Welcome, friends! Throughout the year, you can check out the MLB Daily DK Vibes for picks and insights. We’ll be providing top picks and value plays at each position along with stacks. While we’re focusing on DraftKings pricing, we hope these insights can carry over to other DFS sites. Good luck today!
Pitchers
Top Play: Clayton Kershaw (LAD) [$10,400] — I kept trying to talk myself into making Jon Gray vs. San Francisco as the top play over Kershaw. But for $600 more, Kershaw is the guy. On top of Gray’s price being too high, Kershaw is pitching well and is a safe play against Arizona.
Value Play: Plutko (CLE) [$6,900]
Catcher
Top Play: James McCann (CWS) [$4,300] — Boston’s Rodriguez gives up homers (1.36 HR/9) and McCann likes to dabble (3 over the last 10 games, 7 total). He’s also hit 2 off Rodriguez over his career. He’s on fire and the price isn’t too crazy. HOMER WATCH.
Value Play: Iannetta (COL) [$3,700]
First Base
Top Play: Freddie Freeman (ATL) [$5,400] — Batting .357 (1.140 OPS) with 3 HR and 17 RBI over his last 10 games. On the season, he’s batting .316 (1.009 OPS) and averaging 10.7 DK points per game. He’s a super stud and needs to be rostered every night he’s out there.
Value Play: Tellez (TOR) [$3,800]
Second Base
Top Play: Ozzie Albies (ATL) [$4,300] — While the high-priced Yanks are appealing, Ozzie has the same potential but at lower price. He and the Braves face Lester who he’s 5-for-5 against with 1 HR. I’m on the Ozzie express until further notice.
Value Play: Lopez (KC) [$3,400]
Third Base
Top Play: Justin Turner (LAD) [$4,000] — He’s been pretty cold lately but he has shown a bit more power this year (7 HR, .815 OPS). That lines up well because when Turner hits Greinke, he hits him hard (10-for-30 with 6 extra-base hits, 2 HR).
Value Play: Ramirez (CLE) [$3,900]
Shortstop
Top Play: Didi Gregorius (NYY) [$3,700] — The Yanks face Toronto’s Aaron Sanchez who owns a 5.39 ERA (1.67 WHIP). He’s given up 6 homers over his last 4 starts. Now facing the Yankees does not bode well for Sanchez. Look at Didi as he offers multi-hit upside along with value.
Value Play: Crawford (SF) [$2,800]
Outfield
Top Play: David Dahl (COL) [$4,400] — Cody Bellinger should be popular (rightfully so since he’s pretty awesome) but I’d like to pivot down a tier and highlight Dahl. The Rockies face San Francisco’s Pomeranz (7.09 ERA, 1.78 WHIP) and we want exposure. Dahl’s price is low. Potential is through the roof. HOMER WATCH.
Value Play: Hernandez (TOR) [$3,800]
